To get a meaningful, accurate image from AI, it’s essential to describe your request clearly and precisely.

A prompt is a text description of the image you want to generate.

A good prompt usually answers five key questions:

  1. Who or what is shown?
A person, an object, a group of people, or a situation.
  2. What is happening?
An action, a process, or an interaction between characters.
  3. Where is it happening?
For example: an office, a classroom, a meeting room, a production site, or an online environment.
  4. What are the style and mood?
Realistic or illustrated, formal or friendly tone, cartoon-like or strictly non-cartoon.
  5. What format do you need?
For example: 16:9, 4:3, vertical, or square.

If the prompt is short and vague, the result will be random and unpredictable.

Examples

Example of a Vague Prompt

A person is working on a computer. Serious facial expression. No smile.

This prompt is ineffective because:

  • It’s unclear who this person is.
  • The role and task are not defined.
  • There is no environment or context.
  • The visual style is not specified.

As a result, the image may not match your expectations.

Example of a Good Prompt

Three office employees are discussing a project at a table in a bright meeting room. A man is sitting and taking notes in a notebook, one woman is sitting and listening attentively, and another woman is standing next to a projector and presenting charts on the screen. The illustration is friendly and vibrant. Faces are slightly cartoonlike with small dot eyes and a soft blush on the cheeks. Front view, light brush texture, lively lines, positive atmosphere. Square format, 1:1.

This prompt works well because it:

  • Clearly describes who is shown, including the number of people, roles, and genders.
  • Specifies the situation and actions.
  • Defines the location.
  • Sets the visual style and mood.
  • Includes the image format.

Adding a Custom Visual Style

You can also define your own visual style. For example:

A bright, friendly hand-drawn illustration in the style of a modern lifestyle magazine. Warm and cheerful color palette: berry pinks, soft oranges, coral, lilac, and muted blues. Light cream or beige background. No dark, brown, or gloomy tones — only clean, pleasing, positive colors.

Try experimenting with prompt details, and you’ll see how much more accurate and useful the results become as your prompts become more well-defined.
