Exporting Content
If you’re using an LMS aside from iSpring Cloud or iSpring LMS, or simply want to share your course with users, you can export a page or quiz to SCORM or Experience API (xAPI) format.
You can also copy your content to another iSpring LMS or iSpring Cloud account using a generated code.
SCORM is an international standard for online courses. If your course is published to SCORM, you can be sure that it will most likely be accepted by any modern learning management system (LMS).
Experience API (xAPI or Tin Can) is an eLearning software specification that allows learning content and learning systems to speak to each other in a manner that records and tracks all types of learning experiences. Learning experiences are recorded in a Learning Record Store (LRS). LRSs can exist within traditional learning management systems (LMSs) or as a standalone product.
There are three ways to export a content item:
- The first way is to go to the edit mode and click on the export icon.

The second option is to select the desired content item and click on Export.
The third way to export a content item is to click on the menu to the right of the content and choose Export.
- In the Export Page window, choose one of the following options:
Export content — Export the page or quiz in the SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, or Experience API (xAPI) format.

Copy to another account — Transfer the page to another iSpring LMS or iSpring Cloud account using a generated code. Learn more about exporting to another account.

Optionally, you can enable Time-Limited Access to make the exported page available only for a specific period. When the access expires, the page will automatically become unavailable. Learn more about setting time-limited access.
Click on Export.
The exported package will be saved as a file in your Downloads folder. It’s then ready to be uploaded to any compatible LMS.
Exporting to SCORM
There are two versions of the SCORM standard that function nowadays: 1.2 and 2004. Each has its technical peculiarities and advantages.
| Version 1.2 shows the progress on the course in the reports. You’ll see how much of the course a learner has already taken. | Version 2004 provides more detailed information. Besides progress and status, the reports will show how many scores a user gained while taking the course and the quiz. This version has three editions, and you’re supposed to choose one of them. |
Exporting to Experience API (xAPI)
If you decided to export a content item to Experience API (xAPI), fill in the following fields:
Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Identifier | A unique course code — the identifier — is used by LMSs to differentiate one course from another. |
| xAPI endpoint | Enables and disables the xAPI server where the course will be hosted. |
| Server address | The address of the web resource where the course will be hosted. The peculiarity of exporting to xAPI is that you don’t need an LMS to do so. With xAPI, you export courses to an LRS (Learning Record Store), which is a data storage system that archives the activity records of connected learning systems, applications, and content (courses) collected from the educational systems that are connected to it. |
| Login | The login for accessing the web resource where the course will be hosted |
| Password | The password for accessing the web resource where the course will be hosted. |
