Create questions that ask learners to categorize objects. This will help test their understanding of the relationships between concepts and make training more effective and engaging.

How to create a card sorting question

  1. Open your quiz or excercise. Click on New Question > Card Sorting.



  2. Choose the card type: 
    • Text
    • Image
    • Image and text



  3. Enter your question and the name of the first category, e.g., Vitamin C.



  4. Next, fill in the cards. To add an image, click on Upload.



    To crop the picture, hover over the image and click on Edit. If a picture doesn’t fit, you can replace it.



  5. If you need more cards, click on Add Card.



    If a card doesn’t fit in that category, simply delete it.



  6. Add more categories and cards.

    You can create 2–4 categories for a question.



    Use arrows to change the order of the categories.



  7. Next, you can set up feedback messages. When you finish, click on Done.



    Great! You’ve created a card sorting question.

Taking the quiz

  1. Before answering, you can preview all available cards using the < and > arrows.



  2. Below, you’ll see the total number of cards and how many you’ve already used.



  3. Drag a card to the correct category.



  4. Click the cross icon to remove your choice.



    To reset the categories, click on Start Over.



  5. Click on a category to see which cards you’ve placed in it.



  6. You can remove any card that doesn’t belong in the category.



  7. When you’re done, click on Submit.
    You can view the correct answers in each category if this option is enabled.



  8. Now compare your answers — the correct ones are marked with a checkmark.
